Turton Tower ‘Meet the Tudors’

On Tuesday 23rd September, Year 5 went to Turton Tower to Meet the Tudors. The children were greeted by the Squire William and his wife, Mistress Mary, who gave them a guided tour of their home. The children learnt how a Tudor bed (a tester bed) was made up and where the game ‘Cat’s Cradle’ came from. After that, they looked around the dining room and learnt about the different types of plates (pewter and wooden trenchers) and that children drank ‘small beer’! After trying on some armour and handling some Tudor artefacts, the children were taught a Tudor dance which they will be performing in their class assembly. Year 5 were excellently behaved and keen to learn! We are very proud of them all.
