Year 6 Information

Use of Pen – In Year 6. children will be asked to write neatly and cursively in pen, in all subjects, except Mathematics.  Presentation standards are high and children are encouraged to achieve them.  School has provided each child with a pen, although some children may be encouraged to use a variety of pens, in order to select the most appropriate pen for their style.

P.E Days Year 6 – Thursday and Friday. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate kit.  Indoor kit and pumps only should be worn in the hall.  Trainers and tracksuits can be worn for outdoor activities, in dark colours.  Children who need to be excused from P.E must have a note to explain the reason.

Uniform – All uniform should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.  No jewellery, including earring studs, is allowed in school for health & Safety reasons.  We also ask that children wear only plain hair accessories and that all children refrain from having extreme hairstyles.  Details of the uniform requirements can be found on the brochure, which is available to view at the office or on our website (www.greenlands.lancsngfl.ac.uk).

Water Bottles, Snacks & Lunches – We encourage children to enjoy healthy snacks.  Every playtime there is a tuck shop available.  Children are also allowed to bring fruit or vegetables from home to enjoy in a morning.

Absence notes – Please make sure that you contact school on the morning of absence by telephone, if necessary, and follow up with a note.  In line with our policy, if no explanation has been received, we will contact if your child is not in school.

Medical Information – Please make sure that we have up to date information regarding any medical requirements.  Children who are asthmatic are allowed to carry medication around with them. They should make sure they have up to date inhalers in school at all times.  Children who require medicine in the school day must have the relevant form completed and it can only be administered if required by prescription.
