School Council

A School Council is a group of students who are elected to represent the views of all pupils and to help improve/develop their school.

Each year, every class vote to elect two representatives to become members of the school council. The council meet each half term to discuss issues and problems in and around school.

Our School Council have achieved the following over the past few years:-

  • Successfully campaigned to have yellow lines painted outside school to prevent parking
  • New playground equipment
  • Fundraising for defibrillator
  • Mural on the wall
  • Guild celebrations
  • After school clubs
  • Aid to foreign countries
  • Britain in Bloom

Preston Primary School's School Council

All the schools involved in the Preston Primary School's School Council meet each half term at St. Maria Goretti. Mrs McGuire leads Greenland's School Council and during this meeting they discuss any ideas they may have. We liaise with a group of children in our 'Cool to be Clever' Club where their ideas are recorded and discussed with all members of the council in a bid to receive money from Mr Charnock if successful.

We also have a parent governor, Mr Walker, who attends our meetings and represents the pupil's voice at Governors meetings.
